Wilmer Holz

Wilmer L. Holz, 87 longtime resident of Cottage Grove peacefully passed away on March 26, 2018. Born on September 9, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Hugo & Florence (Englert). Wilmer grew up in Rosemont and Woodbury. He married the love of his life, Louise Heinbuck on April 7, 1951 at St John's Lutheran Church in Woodbury. They lived in Woodbury for several years before moving to Cottage Grove in 1965. Wilmer worked for Pioneer Seed Company and for the City of Cottage Grove in the Parks Department. He retired from the city after 28+ years of  service.  Wilmer enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard and garden, traveling with Louise in their motor home, and spending time at the farmers market. He dedicated many years to 4H actively involved while his sons where growing up. He was a member of the building committee at his church  and involved in the Soaring Eagles, a group made up of the eldest members at his church. Wilmer loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending as much time with them and the rest of his family as possible; he was always up for a party with his family.

Preceded in death by wife, Louise; infant son, Wayne; sister, Shirlene. Survived by loving sons, Larry (Vickie), Dennis (Renee), Kenneth (Cheryl), Gerald (Denise); grandchildren, Brian (Jill), Brad (Shelly), Becky (Jason), Bridget (Neal), Nickolas (Shannen), Laura, Valarie (Nick), Jason, Jenny, Joshua (Nicole), Benjamin (Jenny); great -grandchildren, Abby, Adam, Haley, Carson, Kendra, Taylor, Nina, Brooke, Clara, Oliver, William, Matthew, Reed, Reese; brothers, Donald (Glenda), Glen (Karen); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 am., Thursday, March 29 at Woodbury Lutheran Church (7380 Afton Rd. Woodbury). Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28 from 5-8 pm at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) and one hour prior to service at church. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
