William T. (Smith) Orth, 64 of Cottage Grove, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Regions Hospital in Saint Paul following a sudden illness.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street, Cottage Grove. Private family burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
William T. (Smith) Orth was born May 24, 1945 in Saint Paul, the son of William T. and Lorraine A. (Bethke) Smith. He grew up on Earl Street on the east side of Saint Paul and graduated from Hill High School in 1963. He worked at 3M and later Norwest Bank. He was united in marriage to Jeaneen M. Chambard on July 30, 1983. The couple made their home in Woodbury and later for a short time in Florida and in 1992 moved to Cottage Grove. Bill had a passion for cars, especially his Chevy Impala, he enjoyed golf, woodworking, fishing, reading and most of all time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Cottage Grove, son, Christopher (Paula) Vestin of Juda, Wisconsin, daughter, Sara (Eric) Rice of Mendota Heights, step-son, Scott (Sarah) Boyd of Alaska, grandchildren; Colin, Kelsy, Macallister, Spencer, Quentin, Kierstyn; brothers Donny of St. Paul, Michael (Cindy Kvisto)of Afton, and Danny Orth of St. Paul, his sister, Laura Orth of St. Paul, special nieces & nephews & family member, Donald Orth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. Smith & Lorraine Orth & his brother, Greg.
