William "Bill" George Dwyer, age 58 of Cottage Grove, formerly of St. Paul, passed away August 18, 2015 at his home under the care of hospice and his family.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at The Church of St. Rita, 8694 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove. Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S. Cottage Grove and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Bill was born April 16, 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota to George and Lola (Sandbeck) Dwyer. He graduated from Harding High School in 1975. Shortly after high school, he joined the US Army and took the training to become a paramedic. He was united in marriage to Anne Littfin on November 6, 1979 at Blessed Sacrament Church in St. Paul, MN. They lived on the East Side of St. Paul until 1989 when they moved to Cottage Grove.
He worked for Smith Martin Ambulance Service for several years and then completed paramedic training with Hennepin County. He was hired by Hennepin County in 1985 as a paramedic, a career which he proudly served for nearly 29 years. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing and cheering on his daughters during hockey season. They also enjoyed several years at their cabin near Pine City.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anne; daughters, Gracie and Alex; sisters, Deb (Terry) Darveaux, Nancy (Jerry) Seivert as well and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
