Wallace "Wally" Sapp Sr. age 85, of Cottage Grove passed away on November 3, 2024.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Kok Funeral Home 7676 80th Street S.; Cottage Grove, MN with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow service with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave. S.; Minneapolis, MN.
Wally was born on September 16, 1939 to James and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Sapp in Metter, Georgia. He grew up in Georgia until after high school when he joined the military serving in the Army. The majority of his career was owning his business called 'Performance Industrial Coating' for over 20 years.
Wally enjoyed the annual fishing trip with family and the fish fry that always followed. He traveled to many National Parks and other adventures in his RV. As his children grew up, he would like to talk about the adventures of their camping trips and the large station wagon they travelled in. He had the personality where he never met a stranger and was always willing to share his vast knowledge if he could help someone out. He loved his southern cooking, grits, collard greens, black eyed peas and gumbo. He was very involved in the St. Paul Park Legion and the Lions, he even serving as the Vice District Governor during his time volunteering.
Wallace is survived by his wife Charlotte whom he married in 2018; children Wallace Jr. (Jody), ParisLynne George; Kristine (Rodney) Frank; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; siblings Randall Sapp, Gene Sapp and Sandy Martin; stepchildren Terry (Melissa Mast) Thompson and Paula (Troy) Tjepkes; 4 stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law Carol (Jim) Leonard and Deb (Jerry) Seath; brother-in-law David (Marcia) Pumper; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Emma; daughter Kathleen Cole; son Mark and daughter-in-law Traci Sapp; daughter-in-law Marcia Sapp; son-in-law Greg George; grandchildren Mark Sapp Jr. and James Roth Jr; great grandchild Artemis Cole; brothers Larry, Thomas and James Sapp.
