Victor L. Hanson, 86, formerly of Newport, passed away at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN, on May 23, 2008.
Victor L. Hanson was born March 3, 1922 in Emerald, Wisconsin, the son of Alvin G. and Mildred (Skagen) Hanson. He was raised and educated in Emerald, Wisconsin, until he received permission from his parents to enter the Army at the age of 17. Victor re-enlisted in the Air Force after the U.S. became involved in WWII after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Victor married his first wife, Evelyn, on September 4, 1942. After her passing, he re-married to Viola Krueger on May 5, 1984. The couple made their home in the Newport area for many years. Victor was passionate about antiques, reading, lawn and gardening, travel, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Viola; children Lowell (Lindsay) of Boulder, Colorado, Carol of Victoria, British Columbia, Cheryl (Les) Irby of McLean, Virginia, Larry (Bonnie) of Denver, Colorado, Jay (Liz) of Savage, Minnesota, Richard (Kathy Horan) Olson of Isle, Minnesota, and Victor (Deborah) Olson of Nevis, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
