Vickie Braun

A Life Well-Lived: It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Vickie Braun, who left us peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the age of 73. She was at home and surrounded by her loving family.  She will forever be cherished as a bright-light in the hearts of those she touched and remembered for being a beacon of strength, joy, and love. 

Born to parents Ron Sr. and Clara Urban, Vickie was a woman of resilience and grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ron Urban Jr., and her step-daughter, Kerri Braun. Her spirit lives on in her beloved husband, Rick, and her children, Mike (Jenny) Dorniden, Kim Dorniden (Matt Habash), Kelly (fiancé, Colin Dixon), and Michelle (Doug) Ferlaak. 

Vickie was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, each of whom she adored; Shane, Brandon, Jeremy, Evan, Seth, Blake, Kolton, Connor, Sophia, and Aliyah. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to many other relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness, generosity, and zest for life.   

Vickie’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and fun.  She created a home filled with warmth and acceptance, where everyone was welcome. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her and will be carried on in the hearts of her family and friends. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Vickie from 4:30 to 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Kok Funeral Home, located at 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016. Following this ceremony, we will continue the Celebration at Carbone’s at 7pm at 7155 Jorgensen Lane S, Cottage Grove, 55016.  All who knew and loved Vickie are welcome to attend and share their memories of her. 

Vickie Braun will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will be a comfort in difficult times, a spark of joy in moments of celebration, and a reminder of the enduring power of love.
