Verna Carol Mortensen

Verna was born on December 2, 1940, in Cannon Falls, MN to Milton and Gladys (Anderson) Lundell. She grew up on the family farm with her brothers and sisters, remaining close to them all through her life. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1958.

Verna married Marlyn Mortensen on December 4, 1982, they resided in Cottage Grove, MN. Enjoyed traveling before and after retirement.  They were fortunate to cover nearly all the of the US including Alaska, Canada and Mexico.

Verna was not afraid of hard work.  They both enjoyed taking care of their lawn and home together. She cherished time with her family.  She loved life.  We know she touched so many lives and you all are important to her.

Verna is survived by her husband, Marlyn Mortensen of Cottage Grove; Sons: Duane Schuette of Randolph and Doug Schuette of Palmer AK; Daughter and Son in Law Becky (Dave) Valek of Cannon Falls, Stepsons: Mike Mortensen of Inver Grove Heights; Greg (Significant other - Deb) Mortensen of South St Paul. Grandchildren, Angela (Andy) Mulvihill; Heather (Garrison) Endres; James Mortensen. Great-grandchildren: Louie, Gunnar, Ella, Scarlett, Drew and Maverick. Brothers: Bert (Ann) Lundell of Cannon Falls; Glen (Linda) Lundell of Cannon Falls: Ed (Linda) Lundell of Sundance, WY; Dale Lundell of Soldotna, AK. Brother In Laws: Galen (Judy) Mortensen; Orley (Jo) Mortensen; Ken Clausen: Sister-in-law Sally Harder and many nieces, nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Ebba Leach and Linda Carrol.

Memorial Service held Monday, September 11, 2023, at 11:00 am at Newport Lutheran Church
