Thomas Francis Malone

Thomas Francis Malone, beloved husband and father, 77, passed away peacefully in his Cottage Grove home on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Born September 7, 1945, in Alton, IL, Tom was a veteran of the Air Force, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and a successful electrical engineer. Thirteen of Tom’s post-retirement years involved volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. His passion also included his family and golfing.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Francis Malone and Mary Ellen Cashen. Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Marie Malone (Dunlevy); his four children, John Thomas Malone, Bridget Marie Rief (Michael), Kevin Patrick Malone (Wendy), and Megan Catherine Malone (Darci Matthews); his five grandchildren, Bennett Germain Malone, Aidan Michael Rief, Jay Rief, Zane Malone, and McKenna Marie Rief; and his brother, Michael Malone (Norma Farkash).

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on July 21, 2023, at the Church of St. Rita (8694 80^th St. S. Cottage Grove, MN) with visitation beginning at 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
