Terry Fritze

Terry G. Fritze, age 60 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on July 23, 2017.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am, Friday, July 28, 2017 at Cottage Grove United Church of Christ, 7008 Lamar Avenue with gathering time starting at 10:00 am. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.

Terry Gene Fritze was born February 14, 1957 in St. Paul to Gene and Mary (Hildebrant) Fritze. He grew up in the Cottage Grove area and graduated from Park High School in 1975. Terry served as a volunteer fireman in East Cottage Grove for several years. Terry went on to receive his electrical training and started working as an electrician in the area. One of the highlights of his life was to have visited New Zealand on his way to Antarctica where he worked on the communications systems at McMurdo Station on two different occasions. He also worked in a variety of areas including Texas, New York and New Orleans. Terry took great honor in being the groundskeeper at Cottage Grove Cemetery for the past few years.

Terry loved to “tinker” on machines and could fix just about anything. His family considered him “a big kid” at heart and his sense of humor will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary and brother Thomas. Terry is survived by his father Gene; brothers John (Sue) and Kenny; sister Brenda (James) Herrmann; also nephews Joshua (Laura) and Jesse Fritze, Tucker and Morgan Herrmann; niece Brittany Fritze, great-niece Amelia Fritze; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.
