Stephen Smith

Stephen C. Smith, 62, of Woodbury formerly of St. Paul passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 3, 2017. Steve was born on March 28, 1955 to Edward & Dorothy (Peterson) Smith in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up in the West 7th neighborhood and graduated from Monroe High School in 1973. Steve served his county for two years in the US Navy and worked for the US Department of VA Affairs. He married Cindy Poncelet on October 7, 1999 in Las Vegas. Steve loved playing cribbage, disc golf and in his younger years playing softball. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching Nascar, fishing and keeping eye on his fantasy football teams. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Dorothy; siblings, Edward, Richard, Shelley. Survived by loving wife of 18 years, Cindy; children Stephanie (Erik) Knutson, Aaron; grandchildren, Reghan, Jacqueline; siblings, Thomas, Jay, Brian (Ann), Jeff; many other relatives and friends. Memorial service 10 am Friday, Oct. 6 at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel (1 Tower Ave. Mpls) with gathering starting at 9am.
