Stanley Lauve

Stanley Arnold Lauve, 97, of Newport died Saturday morning at Augustana Health Care Center in Minneapolis.

Stanley was born March 29, 1915 to Theodore H. and Gina (Swenson) Lauve. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1933. He met Alice in high school before leaving for the CCC's where he helped in the creation of state parks in Minnesota. Stanley married Alice Theodora Thorkelson on Nov. 4, 1939 in Maynard, Minnesota. While married, Stanley had a variety of jobs including truck driver before he joined 3M where he climbed the ranks to Quality Control Foreman and Safety Engineer during his 35 year employment.

Stanley and Alice moved to Newport in 1948 where they joined Newport Lutheran. Stanley taught the Bethel Series, and was chairman of the Building Committee when this facility was built. His hobby was stained glass and he hand-crafted everything from sun-catchers to church windows. Travelling and trailering were also Stanley's favorite past times, as was reading and crossword puzzles. Another hobby was rock collecting which he enjoyed during their annual vacations in Arizona.

He is survived by his children: Nancy (Robert) Swanson of Vadnais Heights and Janet (Wayne) Anderson of Sauk Rapids, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Helen Olson, of Willmar, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Alice of 69 years, his son Roger, two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, March 27th, at Newport Lutheran Church; visitation 10 am. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Granite Falls.
Arrangements are with Kok Funeral Home in St. Paul Park.
