Shirley Johnson

Shirley Johnson, age 88 of Cottage Grove, passed away Jan. 2, 2018 at White Pines Assisted Living.
Funeral will be 11:00 am, Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Shirley Mae Leibel was born October 24, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Josephine (La Belle) Leibel. She was united in marriage to Earl Milton Johnson on July 19, 1948 and lived on the East Side of St. Paul where they started their family. In 1958 they moved to Cottage Grove and during those years enjoyed gardening, baking, making candy, reading and serving as her sons “den mother”. Shirley attended Rasmussen Business School for a short time and was able to obtain employment as an edit clerk for the State of Minnesota in the Department of Revenue until her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; sons, Wayne (Debbie), Russ (Kathy), Clint (Cathleen), Jeff (Deb) and Chris (Cher); and numerous grandchildren; sister JoAnn Miller; brothers-in-law Neil Kortekaas and Albert Glisky. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Josephine Leibel; sisters Isabelle Kortekaas and Beverly Glisky; brothers, Lloyd, Joseph, Gordon and William.
