Shirley Jerry, age 87 of St. Paul Park, passed away August 18, 2020.

Shirley Ann Jerry was born on January 26, 1933 to Hildegard and Edwin Albert Dobler and raised by Darrell and Lorraine Kunrath Somerville.  She grew up in South St. Paul and attended Park High School.  She met Irving Jerry while attending a dance on the Jonathan Paddleford river boat in St. Paul.  They were later married November 23, 1950.  They made their home in St. Paul Park where they enjoyed raising their children and staying busy with their activities.

She enjoyed many forms of dancing, pottery, stamping, knitting, reading, skating, listening to country music, eating ice cream and going fishing with Irving.  In her younger years she took the kids camping and taught them how to skate.  Shirley served as a bus driver for many years. Not only did she enjoy children, she was able to be a part of her children’s activities.  She had a heart to mentor those around her and served as an Al-Anon Advocate.  Shirley taught herself how to invest and was able to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Psychology.  During her working years, she worked with Stanley Home Products as a sales person, Pearson’s Candy Company as well as Lindsey Water Systems.

She is preceded in death by husband Irving; grandsons Joshua, Allen, Tommy; granddaughter Angela; great-grandson Gavin; 3 brothers and 1 sister.  Survived by loving children Sandy (Jim) Carroll, Deanna (Tom) Dillon, Irving Jr., Bruce, Timothy (Kathy), Cindy (Pat) Schille, Michelle (John) Bell; grandchildren Brian, Shawn, Stacia, Dana, Mikel, Paul, Sarah, Joel, Heather, Adam, Matthew, Mark, Daniel, Jennifer, Ashley, Andreah and Amber; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Phyllis Pennington as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral 11 am, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove.  Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, August 21, 2020 at the funeral home as well as one hour prior.  Interment will be at the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.  Following the service at the cemetery, friends are invited to join the family for an ice cream treat, (something that Shirley enjoyed) at the Abdella Park, directly across from the cemetery.  Masks will be REQUIRED while in the funeral home facility.
