Sharon Wixson

Sharon I. Wixson, age 76 of Hutchinson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Hutchinson Health Hospital after a long battle with various health issues.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove).  Visitation starting at 9:00 am until the time of service.

Serving as urn bearer is her son Tim Wixson.  Interment at Cottage Grove Cemetery immediately following service.

Sharon Irene was born September 30, 1946, in St. Paul, MN to Roy and Karen Glasgow.  She was baptized and confirmed in her faith as an adult at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Eagan, MN.

She grew up in Newport and St. Paul, MN.  In her younger years Sharon enjoyed cross-stitch immensely. She developed a love for all things crafting, including ceramics. For many years she worked as a secretary for various businesses and office buildings. She eventually opened a home daycare so she could work and stay home with her own children. She then returned to working away from the home.

Sharon married David Wixson on March 14, 1970.  Together they raised their children Tammy and Tim. Sharon’s greatest love is her family, her children and grandchildren meant everything to her. She will be greatly missed at the family gatherings, pizza parties and game nights. Sharon always enjoyed playing cards, and most recently taught the grandkids how to play poker. Sharon was a member of the Bell Choir at Harmony River Living Center. She also enjoyed word find puzzles and always watched Wheel of Fortune after supper.

Sharon is survived by her children, Tammy (Justin) Martin and Tim (Michelle) Wixson; grandchildren, Alexander, Matthew, Addyson, and Novella; and nephews, nieces, and many other dear relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Karen Glasgow; sister, Donna Dopkins; former spouse, David Wixson; former parents-in-law James and Karma Wixson; and other loved family members.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Harmony River Living Center for their wonderful care to Sharon during the last five years.
