Sharon Jacobson

Sharon Jacobson, age 76 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 23, 2023.

Private family services are planned.

Sharon was born January 5, 1947, in Osage, Iowa, and grew up in Austin, Minnesota, where she graduated from Austin Pacelli High School.  Sharon continued her academic career at Mankato State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in education.  While attending graduate school, she met the one who would become the love of her life, Charles Jacobson.  They were united in marriage on August 1, 1970.

Sharon took her first teaching job in the Twin Cities and the couple lived in St. Paul for a short time before making their home in Cottage Grove in 1973 and welcomed their son two years later.

She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.  Her son and her grandchildren brought her immense joy and she was so proud to support them in all of their activities.  Sharon was a caretaker and nurturer for all forms of life, from her family to her many pets to the abundant wildlife that frequented her home.  Sharon was an avid reader who had a passionate drive for learning and gaining knowledge in many academic areas, and especially seeking God's guidance, promise, and strength to help lead the way in her life and follow in God's footsteps.

Her faith was of utmost importance to her and she wove those values into every part of her life.  Despite lifelong medical challenges, she demonstrated strength, grace, and selflessness and never let her health issues interfere with her love, support, guidance, and care for others.  Those who knew her would say that she was always their "go-to" person to lift their spirits up when it came to any real life advice and direction.  Although her presence will be in past memories, the remembrance of her will always be an extension of God's light, guiding our hearts and our faith long into the future.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Charles "Chuck" Jacobson; son Sam (Traci) Jacobson; grandchildren Zach, Zoey and Mackenzie; mother Irene Duren and sister Barb (Steve) James.  She is preceded in death by her father Eligius.
