Sandra Kasten

Sandra Kasten, age 76 of St. Paul Park, passed away October 26, 2018 at the Woodbury Care Center.

Funeral service will be 1 pm Thurs, Nov. 1, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park with visitation starting at 11 am until the time of service.  Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Sandra Lee Hartenstein was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 3, 1942 to Verne and Phyllis (Nord) Hartenstein.  She grew up in St. Paul Park and one of her first jobs was at Tinucci’s where she served as a car hop.  She graduated from Park High School in 1960 and went on be trained as a beautician.  She was a dedicated mother who worked hard to provide for her children.  Over the years she worked as a dispatcher at the Cottage Grove Police Department and then went elsewhere to work customer service until her retirement.

Sandra loved hosting family gatherings and making sure everyone was well fed.  These events were filled with lots of fun and playing games.  She enjoyed family vacations in the younger years and more recently looked forward to going to Arizona during the winter months.  The “girls get-aways” were special events that the ladies in the family looked forward to each time.  She had a sweet tooth and kept her love of desserts even up to her final days.  Sandra was a proud grandmother who loved her family dearly.

The family would like to express their heart felt appreciation for the dedicated and compassionate care that the staff at The Woodbury Villa, Woodbury Care Center as well as the HealthEast Hospice team provided.

She is preceded in death by her parents Verne and Phyllis; sister Barbara McCauley and brothers Edward “Butch” and David.  Survived by children Charles (Donna) Kasten, Christopher (DeDee) Kasten, Melissa (Ron) Blackledge; seven grandchildren, David and Bridget Kasten, Trevor (Sasha) Blackledge, Kyle (Anndi) Blackledge, Erin (Jake) Serres, Jamie (Chris) Lemke and Nicole (Richard) Partch; sister Dianne (Charles) Ehlers; brothers Michael Hartenstein and sister-in-law Janet Hartenstein as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
