Sandra Grochow

Sandra Grochow of Newport, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2018

Memorial service 11 am, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Newport Lutheran Church, 900 15th Street, Newport, with visitation one hour prior.  Private interment Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Oslo, MN.

Sandra Joan Grochow was born January 26, 1943 in Warren, Minnesota to Joseph and Barbara (Bang) Anderson and grew up in Oslo.  She met Carroll Grochow and they were married August 1, 1959 and lived in Warren for a few years before moving to Newport in 1964.  She was employed by the US Postal Service for 30 years and retired as Newport Postmaster in 2000.  Sandra enjoyed cooking for her family and sightseeing in their motor home.  She was the one that kept the family together with frequent Sunday family dinners and spending the holidays together.  She always made her famous spritz cookies and her prized fruit cake.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 59 years Carroll; daughter Joni Jacobsson; grandson Joshua (Amanda) Grochow and great-granddaughter Melanie and Annali; brother Mark (Becky) Anderson as well as many nieces and nephews.  She preceded in death by her parents.
