Cottage Grove

Sandra "Sandee" Doucette, age 79 of Cottage Grove, MN passed away February 8, 2025 surrounded by family.

A memorial visitation in her honor will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove, MN.

Sandra Lee Doucette was born May 22, 1945, in Superior, Wisconsin to Einar and Mary Jane (nee Ryan) Johnson. Growing up in Superior, she was often seen as a tomboy - competing and playing with the local boys while protecting the frail from the local bullies. Getting into any and every form of mischief also seemed to be a favorite past-time of hers!

Never a shy one, Sandee started pursuing her future husband Ronald 'Red' Doucette early in her High School years. And, shortly after graduating from Superior Central High School in 1963, she and Ron were married (1964). Her two boys were born while still in Superior and the family moved to Cottage Grove in 1972.

Sandee enjoyed being a 'stay at home' mom after moving to Cottage Grove, spending as much time with her boys as she could. She would often keep them home 'sick', so they could stay up late and watch movies with her, and then play games all the next day with her! Yearly trips to the Renaissance Festival, Valley Fair, Corn Fest and Superior along with many camping trips, neighborhood parties, road trips and watching sons in sports were a big part of her life in Cottage Grove. After the boys moved out, she and husband Ron would spend a lot of their time playing scrabble, going to TI casino, working in the yard, and gallivanting around town. Fun fact: Sandee didn't get her driver's license until she was 50 years old.

Sandee worked for the South Washington County School District from 1996-2012, and was affectionately known as the 'comedic' lunch and maintenance lady. She made many great friends while working there, and she loved working with the kids more than anything.

Sandee lost her husband Ron in 1999, and several years later found hope again with another Ron (Ron Schloer) - she enjoyed many years of motor cycling and traveling around the country with him, but unfortunately, he passed away in 2014. Sandee then lived a fairly quiet life after this, but she always remained upbeat and happy.

Sandee was well known for her crafting and landscaping/gardening skills, and she was also a formidable home remodeler. Work or play, Sandee was always clowning around, and she was notorious for starting food fights just about anywhere. She was an avid bowler, softball player and cribbage player, and through the years, she maintained her energy with a mix of cigarettes, coffee and sweets.

Sandee is survived by her son Sean (Natasha); grandchildren Adam, Jordyn, Jaime, Trever; brothers Mike Johnson and Ron (Penny) Johnson and nieces Jessica Johnson and Jamie Cvengros. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald; son Scott and parents Einar Johnson and Mary Jane (nee Ryan) Tomzak, stepfather Donald Tomzak and loving friend Ronald Schloer.

In honor of something that was near and dear to Sandee's heart, memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital
