Roy Melford Dunn

Roy Melford Dunn, age 90, of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully on December 9,2024. Roy was living at Norris Square Assisted Living, a Presbyterian Home in Cottage Grove.

Memorial service will be at 11 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) with a visitation from 10-11 AM prior to the service. All are invited to a luncheon following the service. Private interment will take place at Cottage Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

Roy was born on September 05,1934 to Paul & Augusta Dunn in Chokio, Minnesota.

Roy moved to Minneapolis MN. Then on April 2,1955 he was united in marriage to Arlene Peterson. They lived in South St.Paul until 1959, they built a new house in Cottage Grove where they lived until 1980. Roy worked for Swifts, a meat packing plant and he was transferred to Esterville, Iowa for a few years and they then moved to Kensington, MN. They lived on a farm and moved back to Cottage Grove in 1987.

Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques,NASCAR and working on tractors. Both Roy and Arlene were members of the tractor club.

He was survived by his four children, Arnold (June), Kathy (John Jr) Thorvaldson, Peggy and Timothy. Grandchildren, Chris, Eric (Maggie), John Paul III (Erin), Jackie (Matt) Stemwedel and David Cram; great grandchildren, Taylor, Brody, Adalyn, Owen and Shawn; many other relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by his wife Arlene, his parents, daughter Rita; brothers, Verle, Gerald, sisters, Darlene, Carol and Joyce.

Roy will be missed dearly by his many friends and staff at Norris Square.
