Rose Elsbury

Rose C. Elsbury, age 88 of Cottage Grove passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 3, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676-80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Rose Caroline Elsbury was born August 29, 1926 in Elkport, Iowa to Henry and Pearl (Hindal) Kruger. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. At a young age, her mother passed away and she became the caretaker for the family which meant preparing meals and taking care of the needs of the household and farm. She was married to Virgil Elsbury and they lived in Greeley, Iowa and was employed at the local creamery and egg house. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1962 where they raised their 6 children. Rose was employed at Fritz's Candy Company where she made many friends and worked on the production line. She loved to entertain people and make them feel at home. If you came to visit and you left hungry, it was your own fault. Rose enjoyed gardening, crocheting and reading. She loved her family and cherished the Sunday meal time that they shared.

Rose is survived by her children Allen (Mary), Kathleen (Richard) Fritz, Kevin, Carol Patrone and Curtis Elsbury; grandchildren, Jason Aune and Brion (Jennifer) Aune, Alan, Theresa and Samantha Pink, Kristopher (Ann) Elsbury; step-grandchildren Stephanie (Brian) Marty and Kristina Fritz; great-grandchildren Sabrina and Caitlyn Marty, Zack and Brin Aune. She is preceded in death by husband Virgil William Elsbury and son Steven.
