World War II Navy Veteran, Former Woodbury Town Board and City Councilman, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2007 at home after many years of heart trouble surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Emily (McHattie); children Dennis (Julie) of Cottage Grove, David (Karen) Wolterstorff and Nancy (Ian) Burrell of Woodbury; grandchildren Erin Wolterstorffof Oakdale, Michael Wolterstorff of Inver Grove Heights, Nathan (Katie) Williams of Woodbury, great-granddaughter Emma Rose Williams; two brothers Kenneth (Bette) of Inver Grove Heights and Donald (Shirley) of Baraboo, WI; three sisters Edythe Kern of Stillwater, Trudy Jewell of Rochester and Ann Goetz of North St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by sister-in-law Phyllis (Dr. John) Gridley and brother-in-law Ralph (Bernadine) McHattie. Preceded in death by his parents George and Gertie; grandson Christopher; brother Clifford and sisters Lois Wolf, Vera Dornfield and Betty Bloodgood and brother-in-law Earl McHattie. He was a caring, loving man, dearly loved by all. He was a life long farmer devoted to his dairy animals. Due to his ill health he spent many years exercising, ten years at Exercare and eight years at the Woodbury YMCA, making many friends who he dearly loved and who doted over him.
