Robert "Bob" M. Monjeau, age 86, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his loving family on December 31, 2015.
Preceded in death by parents, Bob and Ester; father and mother-in-law; Milt and Ollie Bernier; brother-in-law, Dr. Ronald Bernier; son-in-law, Dwain Kuhn Sr.; many aunts; uncles; relatives; friends; and neighbors. Survived by his loving wife, Donna; children, Debby (special friend, Bob), Mike (Janna), Suzie, and Bob (Sue); grandchildren; great grandchildren; relatives; friends; and neighbors.
Bob was born March 6, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota. As he was growing up in St. Paul he loved to swim in the river and go boating with his mom and dad. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School; where he was recognized as a state swimmer. He later met his bride while on a sleigh ride and shared 63 wonderful years with her while raising their family in St. Paul Park. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War; he was a member of the American Legion, and the VFW. He worked at Swift & Company and later retired from Koch Oil Company. After retirement, Bob loved working in his yard, a good cup of coffee, bird watching, river fishing, and deer hunting in McGregor and at the "Shack" in Two Harbors. He also enjoyed watching jeopardy, crossword puzzles, daily comics, reading, and passionately studying history from all time periods. Above all, his favorite past time was with his family. He was a generous man who donated at blood drives, animal shelters, floods on the both the Mississippi and St. Croix River, Goodwill, Salvation Army and many other organizations. Being that Bob grew up in an era "when you found a penny, you found gold" this made him a modest man, who was always humble, caring, and grateful. His favorite words were wonderful, beautiful, and thank you.
He will be greatly missed and we all have broken hearts; but know that with the love and support of one another, we will heal as a family together.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nelson and his dedicated staff at the Cottage Grove Clinic as well as the wonderful care team at Woodwinds Hospital, and his special "angel" Sarah for their compassionate care.
Rest in Peace Mr. Monjeau
