Robert Kammerer

Robert Hugo Kammerer, age 89 of So. St. Paul, formerly of St. Paul, died October 25, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Robert was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Frank and Anna (Glaser) Kammerer and attended St. Agnes Catholic School. His father died when Robert was 12 years old which marked the start of Robert's working career. He was a self-employed painter and paper hanger working in the St. Paul area. In May of 1943, he entered active duty with the US Army. On November 25, 1944 Robert was united in marriage in New Jersey to the love of his life, Elaine L. Fehland. Following his discharge from the military in 1946 they made their home in St. Paul where they raised their 10 children and Robert continued with his business. From 1966 to 1985 he worked as a paint foreman with the First National Bank system.

His hobbies included fishing, gardening and watching the MN Twins play baseball. He was known as a hard worker who always provided for his family.

Robert is survived by his 10 children, Diane (Dale) Dohman, Jim (Sheree) Kammerer, Glo (Bill) Bowser, Bob Kammerer, Lynn (Joe) Duffy, Kathy (Dennis) Holman, Debbie (Dennis) Nieman, Tom (Kat) Kammerer, Ricky (Cathy) Kammerer and Lori Vance; 38 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Elaine; sisters, Delores Schuster, Clara Schwartz and Rose Drobinski.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave, St. Paul Park. Friday there will be a visitation from 9:30-10:30 am at the funeral home prior to departing for the cemetery. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at 11:30 am.

Casketbearers will be Ricky Vance, David Kammerer, Jesse Nieman, Steve Holman, Gerald Wright and Jim Bowser.
