Robert "Bob" Keith Iverson, age 85, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Robert was born on November 11, 1938, in Hastings, Minnesota, the son of Kenneth and Harriet (nee Younglove) Iverson. His early years were spent in Hastings, Minnesota before moving to Signal Mountain near Chattanooga, Tennessee for a year in 1945. In 1946, he and the family moved to Cannon Falls, Minnesota, where they stayed for the next nine years. In 1954, he and the family moved to Longview, Texas when his father and mother took teaching jobs. On May 25, 1956, Robert graduated from Hallsville High School, Hallsville, Texas. Robert attended Bethel College in 1957 for one year followed by three years at Winona State University, where he graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1961. On December 16, 1961, Robert married the love of his life, Judy Ann Wangen, at the Little Brown Church in Nasha, Iowa. Robert started his teaching career that same year in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota for one year followed by 35 years in the West St. Paul school district teaching 4th grade. Bob and Judy moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota where they raised their two children, Brad and Brenda. As a teacher with summers off Robert started up a successful painting business for many years before transitioning into the pet care and boarding business with his wife, Judy. Together they operated Judy's Pet Care Center at their Hobby Farm on Grey Cloud Island for more than 40 years.
Robert was 80 years old when he walked his last dog. In 2004, Judy's Pet Care Center was awarded "Best Value Kennel of the Year" by the St. Paul Pioneer Press and WCCO TV ran a segment on it, interviewing Bob and Judy. Robert loved being with his family and friends. He cherished the outdoors and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and hunting adventures with his friends, family, and grandsons. He was an avid golfer and bowler, loved music, and took up ballroom dancing with his wife, Judy. He and Judy put that to good use for many years on their annual winter pilgrimage to Donna, Texas. He was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he loved singing bass on the worship team. He loved listening to conservative talk radio and was a history and trivia buff. He especially loved to tell stories, share memories, and tell a good joke or two or three. He was well-read, well-spoken, kindhearted, patient, and a gentleman. He will be missed greatly by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Brad (Cindy), and Brenda; grandchildren, Jordan (Aliesha), Brady (Haley), Garrett (Leslie), and Kevin; great grandchildren, Hayley, and Ainsley; siblings, Ken (Karen) Iverson, Beverly (Bruce) Stewart, and Karleen (David) Dahlberg; as well as many nieces and nephews.
