Bob was born on December 14, 1930 in Albany, Minnesota. He was the 12th child of Frank and Gertrude (Ohmann) Hofmann. After graduating from Albany High School, he served in the U.S. Army for two years and was honorably discharged in 1954. He spent his career at Northern States Power Company and, sometimes, also worked a part-time job to provide for his growing family. After taking an early retirement, Bob worked a few years for a security company and had the awesome job of being a security guard on the field during Minnesota Vikings’ home games. When he officially retired, Bob and his wife Darlene spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona as well as travelling the world.
Bob was a man of deep faith and served as an extraordinary minister at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He participated in numerous mission trips where he worked to support the efforts of the Church’s mission in remote areas of Mexico. He loved his family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Left to mourn are his eight children Rob (Kathleen McQuillan-Hofmann), Lori (David Urke), Dan, Paul, Tom, John (Naomi Hoffer), Peter (Sue Maxa), and Tim (Lisa Finley-Hofmann), grandchildren Kirsten (Steve Klosinski), Brendan, Nathaniel, Davy, Rob, Liam, Audrey, Simon, Clara, Cody, Savannah, Ava, Tatum, and great grandson Nolan. He is also survived by his sisters Clara Baggenstoss and Mary Ann St. Arnault, brother-in-laws Rich Norton and Ron Dunbar (Judy), sister-in-law Kathleen, former daughter-in-law Mallory Wingrove, and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thanks to the caring staff in the memory care facility at White Pines in Cottage Grove.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Darlene, brothers and their spouses: Joseph (Verona), Vernon, Victor (Catherine), Anthony (Marilyn), Valerian, Patrick, Frank Joseph, and sisters and their spouses: Helen (Martin Crowe), Florence (Frank Pietraszewski), Monica (Norbert Schmidt), Loyola (Virgil Hemker), and Jane. Also his brothers-in-law Dan and Jim Dunbar, Lloyd Baggenstoss, and sister-in-law Elaine Norton.
