Richard Edward "Dick" Serpico 68 of Newport passed away peacefully at his home on August 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Joseph & Lucille "Lou" (Celski) Serpico on June 2, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dick attended St. Marks Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in St. Paul in 1966. Shortly after high school he started painting and owned his own business RE Serpico Painting Company for the rest of his career, never really laying down his paint brush even after retiring 6 years ago.
Dick was a proud grandfather, loved anything to do with a motor including motorcycles, snowmobiles, Jeeps, boats. He enjoyed attending old car shows, fishing, camping, a good game of cribbage, being outdoors, bowling, spending time by the pool with family & friends, and he had an amazing love for painting.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of almost 24 years Lucy, sons Dave (Michelle), John (Serina) Chris (Jen); stepson Jason Goette; grandchildren Andrea, Tyler (Angela), Dominik, Andrew, Esmeralda, Allison, Angelina, Lia, Brandt, Jack, Bri; great grandson Cody; siblings Bonnie (Jerry) Anderson, Geraldine (Roger) Green, Joe (Deb), Luann Klemetson; loving sister-in-law Lori Schaaf; brothers-in-law Tim (Mary) Zupfer, Bob (Phyllis) Michaels; many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Joseph & Lou, brother Tom, brother-in-law Larry Klemetson.
Memorial gathering will be Thursday, August 18 from 4-8 at the VFW Red Barn (9260 E. Point Douglas Rd. Cottage Grove). Memorials preferred.
