Richard “Dickie” Schindeldecker, age 86 of Inver Grove Heights, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.
Richard was born on November 24, 1936, to John and Helen Schindeldecker in Dakota, MN, the youngest of 10 children. He attended Emanuel Grade School and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1954.
Richard was a proud Army Veteran having served from 1956-1958. He enlisted at 19 years old and served in the Artillery Unit in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After returning from the service Richard worked for Farwell Ozman Kirk from 1959 to 1982 when the company moved to South Dakota. Richard then went to work at Northwest Orient Airlines until his retirement in 2003.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed bowling, softball, golf and cooking. His favorite meal was boiled dinner with blueberry dessert. Richard was an avid MN sports fan (especially the MN Wild.) He was even a Minnesota North Star Season Ticket Holder!
Survived by sister, Irma Krech; Lori (David) Schwandt; Erica (Christian) and Jordan (Allie); nieces and nephews; and Lori’s puppies.
Preceded in death by parents John and Helen Schindeldecker; and siblings, Marvin, Lillian, Helen, Mildred, Alfred (Karen), Roy, John and Dorothy.
Memorial Service to be held Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023 at Crown of Life Lutheran Church (115 Crusader Ave.; West St. Paul, MN) at 2 pm with visitation beginning at 1 pm and luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to Crown of Life Lutheran Church.
