Richard Sawyer

Richard B. Sawyer,  68, of Cottage Grove, formerly of New York, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Jan. 18, 2018. Survived by loving daughter, Lori Finn; son in law Bobby Finn; grandchildren, Addison and Connor; niece Carrie (Rob) Dentler; good friend Kathy Finn. Preceded in death by parents Robert & Geneva; brother and best friend Robert.

Richard was born on August 23, 1949 in Alexandria Bay, New York to Robert & Geneva (Larue) Sawyer. He grew up in Clifton Park, NY, graduating from Shenendehowa High School in 1967. He attended Lea College in Albert Lea, Minnesota.  Richard, his brother and parents owned and operated Sawyer’s Sporting Goods, Inc. in Clifton Park, NY from 1973 until they sold it in 1988. Richard spent time living in Las Vegas and Long Beach before moving to Minnesota six years ago to be closer to his daughter and her family.  He ran Finja's Liquor in St. Paul Park for most of those six years. Richard enjoyed all sports, especially his home state New York Teams.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Richard's life will be Monday, Jan. 29 at Kok Funeral home from 4-6:30 with a time of sharing at 6:30.
