Richard "Dick" Prokasky

Richard "Dick" Prokasky, age 83, of Cottage Grove, MN passed away on December 24, 2024.

Memorial Service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Kok Funeral Home 7676 80th St. S.; Cottage Grove, MN with an hour visitation prior to service from 10-11 AM. All are welcome to a luncheon following the service.

Dick was born on March 31, 1941 to Herman and Helen (Olson) Prokasky in Rochester, MN. His family lived in Oronoco, MN for a short time before moving to Rush City, MN where he grew up. Dick graduated from Rush City High School before attending St. Cloud State where he earned his Bachelor Degree and later his Masters Degree in Education. Dick was united in marriage to Grace Peterson on November 19, 1960. They settled into Cottage Grove to raise their family and have been lifelong residents. Dick was an elementary school teacher at Crestview Elementary primarily teaching 5th and 6th grade for over 33 years. 

Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar and reading - especially Louis L' Amour books, in which he thoroughly enjoyed completing the entire collection multiple times. After 62 years of marriage Dick and Grace were still an inseparable couple that did everything together.

Dick is survived by children Karen (Mike) Chatterton, Carol (Rick) Scott and Keith (Heather) Prokasky; grandchildren Travis Scott, Joseph (Chanell) Chatterton, Mitchell (Jessica) Chatterton, Danielle (Tyler) Barnett, Hannah Scott (Tom), Brianna Chatterton, Sami Prokasky, and Ben Prokasky; and 9 great-grandchildren. Dick is preceded in death by his wife Grace; parents Herman and Helen Prokasky and brother Mike Prokasky.
