Richard Petersen

Richard J. Petersen, age 72 of Newport, Minnesota died August 1, 2007. Richard was born at his home in Newport, Minnesota on December 25, 1934, the son of Donald and Dorothy Petersen. He was raised in Newport, while attending Park High in St. Paul Park, Minnesota. After his schooling, he entered the U.S. Army. On January 25, 1975, Richard Petersen and Carol Schoenbauer were united in marriage in Stillwater, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Newport, Minnesota. Richard generously served his community, continuously extended his services to others in lawncare, and enjoyed fishing, ice skating and bowling. Richard was an active and passionate grandfather - always a witness of care and compassion. He is survived by loving wife of 32 years, Carol; grandchildren, Nicole (Don) Bartel, Matthew Erdman; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Danny; siblings, Donna Kruschel, Jackie Bybee, Marlene Andrews, Don "Lumpy" (Beth), Conrad "Smoky" (Deb), Merrie Jo Baumgartner. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by daughter, Robyn; parents and sister. A special thanks to St. Thomas Church and St. Joseph's Hospital.
