Richard "Richy" Elmer Lind
Age 80, a 58 year resident of Cottage Grove
Died peacefully at his home on April 23, 2016, in the presence of his loving family after a long and valiant battle with Parkinson's disease.
Richy was born on July 11, 1935, in Becker, Minnesota. He was the son of Elmer and Mary Ann (née Cota) Lind. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy (née Danzl) Lind, and their five children Kathryn (Jeff) Caudill, Barbara (Jim) Hunter, David, Paul (Conny), and Lisa. He was the loving grandfather of ten: Jennifer Hutchins, Kate (Randy) Hill, Beth (George) Emerson, Michael Lind, Sheila Lind, Thomas Caudill, Patrick Caudill, Max Lazzara, Amber Braulick, and Oliver Lind, and the proud great-grandfather of eight: Miguel Lind, Caroline Hutchins, Natalie Hutchins, Tate Hill, Lincoln Hutchins, Greyson Emerson, Reese Hill, and Keegan Emerson. He is also survived by his siblings Madonna Wink, Lois Herold, Peter (Ellie) Lind, Leonard (Nancy) Lind, and Caroline (John) Horwath. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Shirley Berthiume, Lawrence Lind, Leonard Alphonse Lind, Joyce Martin, Ramona Lind, Robert Lind, and Annette Peterson.
A veteran of the United States Army, he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Belvoir, Fort Hood, Fort Chaffee and in South Korea. Richy was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, Moose Lodge #1088, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove and continues one hour prior at church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The Rev. Tony Andrade will officiate. Interment to follow at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
