Richard Kveton

February 3, 1937 — December 26, 2015

Richard "Dick" Kveton, age 78 of Woodbury, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2015. He said he had no fear of death because he knew Jesus was there to welcome him home.

Funeral service will be 2 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road in Woodbury with visitation starting at 10 am until the time of service.

Richard "Dick" Gene Kveton was born February 3, 1937 in Menominee, Michigan to Frank and Julia (Johnson) Kveton. He graduated from high school in 1955 and went on to earn his Master's Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1961. He served six months active duty and 5½ years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dick was married to Marsha Wyss in Boyceville, Wisconsin on June 29, 1963. He took a teaching position in Silver Spring, Maryland where he taught graphic arts at the junior high school. They moved to the Twin Cities in 1965 where he started working at 3M, Decorative Products Division, in the areas of Information Technology, programming and forecasting, retiring in 1997.

Dick enjoyed gardening, golfing, volunteering at church and offering his expertise in tax preparation as well as taking on a variety of construction projects in his own home as well as for many family and friends through the years. He had a special love for taking care of the grounds and buildings at North Central Camp Cherith near Detroit Lakes. They enjoyed many family trips across the country as well as international trips.

Preceded in death by grandson, Jakub Witherill; parents Frank and Julia; brothers Robert, Frank Jr. and Ralph. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marsha; children Lisa (Todd) Hultmark, Dawn (Troy) Witherill, Bethany (Tim) Mathot; grandchildren, Karissa, Austin, Lynsey, McKinsey, Jared, Payton, Bronson, Alayna; sister Milly Hansen.

Prior to his death, he arranged for his body to be donated to the University of Minnesota for medical research.
