age 82, of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon August 29, 2006
Richard Nicholas Fournelle was born December 3, 1923 in St. Paul the son of George & Emma (Boehm) Fournelle. He was raised in St. Paul. On July 3, 1948 he married Carolyn Combs at St. Louis Church in St. Paul. Dick served in the United States Navy during World War II in Alaska on DE-14. He was a longtime employee of the Army Corps of Engineers on locks and dams and the U. S. Postal Service. He worked a brief time at St. Paul Academy before finishing his his working career at the bulk mail center in Eagan. He enjoyed fishing, and watching football and baseball.
He is preceded in death by parents George & Emma; brother George; sisters Grace & Marcella.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn; brother Robert; sons Michael, Steven (Kathy), David (Jolene); daughter Lisa (Scott) Smestad; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Wednesday at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 920 Holley, St. Paul Park. Inurnment Ft. Snelling. Visitation 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday at church.
