Richard Fetzer

Richard "Festus" Fetzer, age 71 of Monticello, formerly Cottage Grove, died December 9, 2014 at the Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.

Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 1:00 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monticello Help Center-Food Shelf.

Richard Melvin Fetzer was born October 14, 1943 in Superior, Wisconsin to Melvin and Mae (Curtiss) Fetzer. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Humbolt High School in 1961. On June 17, 1967, he married his sweetheart, Bonnie Vesey at St. James Lutheran Church in West St. Paul, Minnesota. They made their home in Cottage Grove for many years where they raised their children. He was 34 year employee at North Star Steel where he served as a ladel-man, retiring in 2003.

He loved fishing and cars, riding his Harley and as a Packer fan, enjoyed watching football. Richard looked forward to his monthly trips to the cabin to play cards with the guys. He and Bonnie loved to spend time with the family as they frequently went boating on the St. Croix. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie; daughter Missie (Steve) Haesecke; son Derek (Lindsay); daughter Tabitha (Scott) MacKenzie; grandchildren, Jasmine, Devin, Caleb and Grace.
