Phyllis was born in St. paul, Minnesota the daughter of Clifford & Bernice (Andersen) Nord. She graduated from Park High School in St. Paul Park. She married Verne Hartenstein. Verne was in the Army and Air Force. They traveled around the states. They settled in St. Paul Park to raise their six children. She lost her first husband in the spring of 1970. She later married Joseph Ryan and move to Loon Lake in Comstock, Wisconsin. She is a lifetime member of The American Legion Post 98 and a member of the VFW. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, putting together puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by husbands Verne Hartenstein, Joseph Ryan; children Edward Hartenstein & Barbara McCauley.
Beloved mother of Sandra Kasten, Michael Hartenstein, Dianne (Chuck) Ehlers and David (Janet) Hartenstein; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers Cliff, Bill & Jim Nord; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 11 AM Monday May 23, 2005 at COMMUNITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 1145 Summit Ave, St. Paul Park. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 PM Sunday at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 1201 Portland Ave, St. Paul Park (651-459-2875) and 10-11 AM Monday at church. www.kokfuneral.com
