Phyllis Hagness

Phyllis Marie Hagness 74 of Cottage Grove died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 25, 2016. She was born on May 29, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Daniel & Marie (Houle) Edwards. Phyllis grew up in South Maplewood and graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1960. Shortly after high school she met Loren Hagness, while working with him at Snyder Drug. They married on March 2, 1963 at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Oakdale and settled in Cottage Grove where they raised their family. Phyllis enjoyed golfing, trips to the casino with her sisters, bird watching especially cardinals, working on puzzles, and most importantly her family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren; attending as many of their activities as she could. Phyllis and her sister Virginia "Jinny" opened Reds Savoy Pizza in Newport in 1991, and operated it until her children took over the restaurant in 2001. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Loren; children Randy (Drena), Perry, Terry (Shannon), Suzanne (Scott) Donnelly; grandchildren Justin, Jenna, Colby, Ryan, Lora, Danny, Abby, Lily, Alyssa; sisters Mary Welsch, Lorana Keeney; many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Daniel & Marie (Houle) Edwards; sisters Virginia, Beverly, Sharon. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Friday Sept 30 at The Church of St. Rita (8694 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) with a visitation 5-7 Thursday at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S.) and one hour prior to mass at church. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
