Phillip Lopez

Phillip Lopez, age 71 of Cottage Grove, passed away July 21, 2021.

Private services will be planned.

Phil was born January 8, 1950 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Antonio and Esther Lopez.  He grew up in Lauderdale, Minnesota, the 3rd of 9 children.   After graduating from Ramsey High School in Roseville in 1968 he worked a few jobs before taking a position with the US Postal Service where he served as a clerk for 42 years.

He was married to Roxanne Joy on January 8, 1984 in Stillwater.  They lived in St. Paul Park for a short time before moving to Cottage Grove in 1988.  He enjoyed watching boxing and going on road trips to various places.  Phil enjoyed family gatherings and loved to manage the menu and serve the food.  Phil enjoyed going to the grandchildren’s activities and spending quality time with his family.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Roxanne; children Stephen Joy, Roxy Shumway; Gabrielle (Eric) Knable; grandchildren Alexandra, Rachael, Jack and Shane; great-grandchild Louie; siblings Tom (Marilyn) Lopez, Lorie Lopez, Marietta (Doug) Stonestrom, Cathie (Clay) Godert-Welsh, Michael (Kathy) Lopez, James (Becky) Lopez and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Antonio and Matthew.
