Peggy Rieck

Peggy Rieck, age 80, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025.

Margaret “Peggy” Rieck was born on April 29, 1944 to John and Mary Effa in Chicago, IL. After graduating from Regina High School, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Math from Loyola University Chicago. She enjoyed sports, especially Loyola basketball. She held the title of Miss Niles, IL. She went on to work for the State of MN as a Database Administrator for 40+ years.

In 1966, Peggy met Al at The Alma Marina in Alma, WI and they went on to wed in 1968. A gifted seamstress, Peggy even made her own wedding dress! They spent the first year of their marriage in Germany while Al was in the Army before eventually settling in Cottage Grove, MN in 1974. Peggy and Al were married for 56 loving years.

Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children Jeff (Tracy), Kate (Chad), and Tim; her much adored grandchildren Aidan, Audrey, Ashley, Dominic, Kayla, and Adam; and cherished siblings Lois, Joyce, and John as well as many nieces and nephews.

Peggy’s legacy is one of unyielding faith and love of family. As a talented baker, she made sure everyone had their favorite dessert for their birthday dinner. Her organized lists made sure that nothing was left behind on the many family camping vacations. She cherished her time with her grandchildren whether it was building a pool on the deck out of an old container, baking oatmeal scotchies, or playing bingo on New Year’s Eve. She had a knack for jigsaw puzzles spending hours at the kitchen table meticulously sorting pieces.

Peggy’s loss is felt deeply by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in those whose life she touched. A special thank you is extended to the staff at Suite Living in Inver Grove Heights for the wonderful care they provided.

Funeral Service 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, St. Paul Park, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Catholic Charities- Twin Cities.
