age 85, of Cottage Grove died early Friday morning, December 15, 2006 at Desert Valley Medical Center in Hesperia, California.
Palmer was born December 10, 1921 in Tracy, Minnesota the son of Alphius & Lizzie (Johnson) Colburn. He was raised in Garvin and graduated from Tracy High School in 1939. On May 28, 1947 he married Madelaine Elaine (Bertie) Greenman in Marshall, Minnesota. Palmer worked as a welder for the Great Lakes Pipeline from 1951-1962 before working at Koch Refinery from 1962-1973. He retired from Metro Waste Control as a boiler operator in 1987. He was a member of th IUOE Local 35. He served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII wwhere he earned four overseas bars.
Beloved husband of Madelaine (Bertie); loving father of Harley (Debra) of Rosemount, Laurie (Ron) Riffle of Hesperia, Californie, Nancy (Bert) Isaacs of Pine City; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Gordon of Jamestown, North Dakota.
Preceded in death by daughter Shelley Roberts; brothers Alphie, Art, Ernie and Les and parents.
