Ngen Hem, age 82 of Cottage Grove, passed away April 27, 2017 at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Ngen Hem was born November 5, 1934 in Battambang, Cambodia. He grew up in Cambodia, the second youngest of 10 children and grew up on the family farm. He continued to farm and was married to Chhim Gnet in 1964 and they raised 6 wonderful children. They were very active in his children's lives and loved being with his family. His wife passed away unexpectedly in 1985. During the difficult times in their country Ngen and his family lived in the refugee camp for 6 years. He moved to the United States in March 21, 1997 and became a citizen in 2002.
He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, gardening but especially adored watching his grandchildren grow up.
He is survived by children Sdoueng Hem (Steven Vay), Noy Hem (Soknga Lim), Try Hem (Sambran Korn), Houng Hem (Ronney Im), Heng Hem (Savon Lim), Hai Hem (Kinal Hout); grandchildren Kimleng Salyards, Kimly Staley, Kimheng Vay, Stella Vay, Sivhab Ngen, Sivhong Ngen, Sivhour Ngen, Phearnon Ngen, Chin Hem, Nikki Hem, Reksmey Mouk, Sophanny Mouk, Stephanie Lim, Aleisha Lim, Emily Lim, Rathanak Hout and Saosokunthea Hout and 4 great-grandchildren.
