Nels Raabolle

Nels "Ronie" "Ron" Raabolle was born December 6, 1942 in Kenyon, Minnesota to Nels & Luella (Nee; Hukee) Raabolle. He graduated from Kenyon High school, spent some time in the Army Reserves and attended one year at Mankato State. Ron worked for the State Highway Department and dedicated 38 years to North Star Steel.
His love for flowers was appreciated and enjoyed by so many at weddings, family gatherings or arranged in a vase. Ron also enjoyed any volunteering opportunity, loved music. He loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, 27 years in a row! You could often find him enjoying a meal at the North Pole Restaurant in Newport wearing one of his favorite Hawaiian shirts or a pair of his many cowboy boots. Ron was a dedicated Department 56 Saintly City 56's member and spent a lot of time traveling with the group.
He will be missed by his siblings JoAnn Kasa, Norliene (Charles) Wells, Elaine Urness, David (Sandra), Larry (Debbie), Betty (Charles) Groth, numerous other relatives and friends.
He joins in Heaven his parents Nels & Luella; brothers in law Austin Kasa, Donald Urness; nieces Jessica Raabolle, Ashley Kasa; & nephew Daniel Menaugh.
Ron died peacefully July 15, 2014 at the Regina Care Center in Hastings at the age of 71.
Funeral service 11am Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Newport Lutheran Church(900 15th Street) with a visitation starting at 10am.
Ron will be interred at Vang Lutheran Cemetery in Dennison, Minnesota at a later date.
