Neil Howe

Neil LaRue Howe, age 86, of Cottage Grove, MN passed away on the morning of April 8, 2017.

Neil was born July 10, 1930 in Esmond, N.D. to Clarence and Mildred (Hansen) Howe. Neil married Rose Heisler, his grade school sweetheart on October 26, 1950 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond. They were married for 52 years until her death. Neil was an avid sportsman - playing football, baseball, basketball, softball, bowling, and golf. When he wasn't playing sports, Neil was either coaching or watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Later, he enthusiastically played bingo. Throughout his life, Neil loved reading his multiple daily newspapers and talking about current events. Neil served his country as a sergeant on the front lines of the Korean War. He worked 33 years for Burlington Northern, retiring as a Central Traffic Control Engineer.

Neil will always be remembered for his loyalty, his integrity, and his devotion towards his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; son, Dale; parents; and sister, Shirley Braun. Survived by significant other, Glenda Fossum; children, Candy Rogness (Jim), Tracy Kodluboy, Terilyn Malone (Mark Ploumen) and Kelly (Patricia); daughter-in-law, Lorie; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; and 1 nephew.
