Mina "Mimi" Swanson

Mina “Mimi” Swanson, age 61 of Cottage Grove, passed away June 29, 2019 at the Woodbury Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at St. Patrick’s of St. Paul, 1095 Desoto Street, St. Paul.  Visitation will be 4-7 pm on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove.

Mina “Mimi” Marie (McCann) Swanson was born November 23, 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Roger and Joan (Then) McCann.  She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Johnson High School in 1976.  Mina went on to study accounting and worked in the administrative offices of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities for many years.

She married Loren Swanson on October 25, 1980 after they met on a blind date.  Mimi enjoyed a variety of different crafts, camping, and fishing.  Together, they enjoyed their pontoon and spending time at the Moon Lake Resort in Clayton, Wisconsin.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons Bryan (Rudie) and Gerald (Kim); grandchildren Kylie, Brayden, Cassidy, Savannah and Liberty; mother Joan McCann; siblings Micheal “Micky” (Lew) Danielson, Mike (Marilyn) McCann and Kelly (Mary Ann) McCann as well as several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband Loren and father Roger McCann.
