Mike Wolk

Mike Wolk, age 89 of Cottage Grove, passed away December 13, 2016 at the Augustana Care Center in Hastings.

Funeral 11 am, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Burial Newport Cemetery, Newport.

Mike Wolk was born the oldest of 5 children on November 21, 1927 in East Braintree, Manitoba, to Ukranian Immigrants, George and Tina Wolk. He grew up on the family farm and at the age of 9, his mother died unexpectedly. Mike took on a lot of responsibility in caring for his family and started working as a machinist at a young age. Mike was married to Delores Larson before moving to Minnesota in 1942 where he served as a machinist with 3M Company for 35 years. Delores passed away unexpectedly in 1990. One of the things that Mike did to occupy his time was "putzing" around the house. Throughout the years, he enjoyed collecting things to take to local flea markets. Mike was married to Paula Binder in June of 1991 and they lived in Cottage Grove together until her death in 2008.

He is preceded by parents, George and Tina; 1st wife Delores; 2nd wife Paula and brother Alex. Mike is survived by his step-daughters Brenda and Dawnelle Binder; brothers, Frank and Wally; sister, Bernice as well as numerous extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Friends in Need Food Shelf located in St. Paul Park, MN.
