Merton Edward Bresnahan was born May 1, 1928 in Hankinson, North Dakota the son of William & Josephine (McMorrow) Bresnahan. He lived in Hankinson until age 16 when he came to South St. Paul to work. Merton served in the United States Army as a sergeant from 1951 until 1953. On February 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bonita M. Hendel in St. Paul. Merton was a man of strong faith who will be remembered for his love of animals. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sports and loved his sweets. He enjoyed watching the Westminster Dog Show and Viking Football.
Preceded in death by wife of 53 years Bonita; infant daughter Sheryl, son Kevin.
Loving father of Colleen (Bill) Link, Maureen (Mike) Yauch, Dennis (Michelle), Shannon, Sheila (Stephen) Dreiling, Brenda (Mark) Schwieters, Timmy; 12 grandchildren; his canine kids Ginger, Molly, Tina & Tiffany.
Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80TH St. S. (651-459-2875) and 10-11 AM Thurs at church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday at ST. RITA'S CATHOLIC CHUCH, 8694 80TH St. S. Cottage Grove. Burial Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
