Merna Mellum

Merna Lynn Mellum, age 71 of Cottage Grove, died Sunday evening November 11, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul.
Merna was born September 9, 1941 in Kenton, Ohio the daughter of Delbert & Naomi Molk. She graduated from Kenton High School before studying nursing at Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Ohio Northern University and National Louis University. She was an RN for 43 years, 35 of those years at Lutheran General in Nursing Management. She was employee of the year at Advocate Hospitals in Park Ridge, IL three times. Merna was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She served Mission Midway and volunteered at Woodwinds Hospital and with children's ministries at St. Luke.
She is the beloved mother of Laura Ann ( Mellum) (Todd) Schultze and Eric E. (Amy) Mellum; grandmother of Amber Ann, Valerye, and Reid; sister of Nita (Bob) Parmley, Linda (Gary) Hockett; aunt of Megan (Rich) Kanis, Courtney (Danny) Smith, Rob, Matt & Jared Parmley; great-aunt of Sarah, Samantha, Anna & Matthew Parmley, Trey, Reid, & Paul Kanis.
Visitation 5-9 PM Friday at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80TH St. S. Cottage Grove. Funeral Service 7 PM Saturday at ST. LUKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, HINTON & 70TH St. Cottage Grove.
