Matthew Hoffman, 49, of Cottage Grove, passed way on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Kok Funeral Home, in Cottage Grove with the Reverend Brad Kindall, officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Matthew Hoffman was born April 22, 1959 in New York City, New York, the son of George and Anne Marie (Van Cura) Hoffman. He was raised in Long Island and moved with his family at an early age to upstate New York.
He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning to the states he was united in marriage to Constance G. Wolford on June 30, 1984. The couple made their home in West Port, Connecticut and in 1989 moved to Cottage Grove where he continued his career in the military until 2003, as he worked under the 88
th
RSC out of Fort Snelling.
Matthew enjoyed fishing and working on cars, he loved people and enjoyed helping others.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Connie,
his daughters; Casey, Amanda & Tina Hoffman, son, Kyle Hoffman, his granddaughter, Lyla Likes, his brothers; Jack (Claire) Hoffman of Wareham, Massachusetts, Buddy (Connie) Hoffman of Palm Bay, Florida & Jim (Rosemary) Hoffman of West Berne, New York, his mother-in-law, Barbara Wolford of Schoharie, New York and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Anne Marie, his brother, Kevin & father-in-law, Herbie Wolford.
