Mary Ann (nee Shea) Doyle, 88 of Cottage Grove, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away on February 13. 2021.
Mary Ann was born in St. Paul, MN on January 18, 1933 to Joe and Lila Shea. She would be the oldest of 6 children. Mary Ann attended St. Cecilia's Catholic grade school in St. Paul and graduated from St. Agnes Catholic high school in 1951. She married her grade school friend Tommy Doyle in 1955 and became a proud Airforce wife and mother of 6 children. Throughout their Airforce career they were stationed in Dayton, Ohio and Madrid, Spain and finally settling in South Minneapolis, MN to raise their family.
Through the years of Mary Ann would become the mother to many as she opened her home and heart to all during their time of need, especially during the holidays. Mary Ann will always be remembered for her generosity of love and dedication to family and friends. She was a strong woman of faith leading all her children to Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Lila) Shea; ex-husband, Thomas Doyle; children, Kathleen Gadient, Steven Doyle and baby Colleen Doyle; infant brother, Daniel Shea; grandchild, Jacob Gadient and brother-in-law, Stan Chastek.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Kelley (Jeff) Martin, Joe (Carrie) Doyle and Erin (Bill) Ahern; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Salvati, Joy (Chris) Logan, Megan (Laura) Wagner, Renee Doyle, Phil (Chrissy) Doyle, Colleen (Travis) Melcher, Lucas Gadient, Lauren Martin, Zach Doyle, Anna Johnson, William Ahern, Jeffrey (Maddie) Martin, Nathan (Nicki) Ahern, Daniel Ahern, Frank Johnson, Julia Doyle and Shea Ahern; great-grandchildren, Nola, Jackson, Noelle, Faith, Joey, Gavin, Hayden, Jameson, Finn, Lilah, Blake, Pippa, Crosby and Levi; brothers, Bill (Sharon Ann) Shea and Michael Shea; sisters, Sharon Catherine Chastek and Lynnette (Larry) Sorenson; son-in-law, Tom Gadient; daughter-in-law, Karen (Andre) Doyle and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass 11 am, Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Church of St. Rita's, Cottage Grove, MN. Visitation will be held on the same day beginning at 9:00am-10:30am at Kok Funeral Home, Cottage Grove, MN.
Private interment at Grandview Park Cemetery, Hopkins, MN.
Thank you sincerely to all those who took the time to help Mary Ann continue to live out her final years doing all the things she loved. She sincerely appreciated your help and loved being with you. A special thank you to the CGPD for always being so kind and understanding to Mary Ann's dementia and for coming to her aid whenever she called. Special thanks to Miss Nanette at Daybreak where Mary Ann found a new sense of purpose. Also, thank you to the hospice team for taking care of the details of keeping Mary Ann comfortable. And finally a thank you to all the prayer warriors your prayers were the greatest gift.
