Mary Nickolay

Mary J. Nickolay age 65 of Newport passed away peacefully Oct. 13, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 24, 1949 to Melvin & Joyce(Ridley)Priebe in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from High School in West St. Paul she became a RN working for St. Joseph Hospital, in the NICU at Children's Hospital and for the last 28 years of her career worked as a home care nurse. Mary married Larry Nickolay on June 8, 1973 at The Catholic Church of St. Michael in West St. Paul. They build a home in Newport and raised their children Ben, Joy and Kate there.
Mary loved to spend time on the North Shore, especially at Split Rock Light House. She enjoyed reading, thrift shopping, and cherished her time with her family.
She is survived by husband of 42 years Larry; children Ben, Joy and Kate; darling granddaughters Evie & Ellie; sisters Barb Hoefer, Kathy Erickson; many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Melvin & Joyce Priebe; brother in law Gerald Hoefer.
Mass of Christian Burial 2pm Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1154 Seminole Ave. , W. St. Paul) with a visitation starting at 1pm at church.
