Marlowe Collinge

Marlowe D. Collinge, age 81 of Cottage Grove, passed away Feb. 26, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

Memorial service will be 12 Noon, Monday, March 2, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676-80th Street S. Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Marlowe DeWayne Collinge was born November 4, 1933 in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Harry and Helen (Larson) Collinge. He grew up in Red Wing where he graduated from high school in 1952. He worked for the Rail Road for a few years before enlisting in the US Navy. During his military service, he was stationed in Japan, Tokyo and various areas in the Pacific. After he returned he met Joyce Phillips and the two were married on January 16, 1960 in Rochester. His job with the railroad transferred them to Milwaukee and later to St. Louis Park. Marlowe was a true outdoorsman who loved to go fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. As their daughters were growing up they enjoyed camping and travelling to many areas of the USA. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1979. After 37 years with the Milwaukee Road, he retired in 1988. After retirement he enjoyed going on long walks, trips to the casino and spending time at their cabin near Lindstrom. He adored his family and loved being a grandpa.

Marlowe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce; daughters, Kim Collinge and Julie (Lenny) Gordon; granddaughter, Melissa (Kurt) Wichelman; sister, Linda (Joe) Dahling; sister-in-law, Harriet Phillips and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Helen; niece Janene Dahling; nephew, Roger Phillips; father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Dorothy Phillips and brother-in-law, James Phillips.
